The Com-Power IS-268 Impedance Test Set is designed to analyze AC and DC on hook impedance of a telephone interface device. These impedances during ringing tests, were designed to protect the telephone network from excessive current flow while on-hook. The IS-268 test set works for AC and DC on-hook impedance during ringing tests to ensure that the EUT does not cause the ring trip equipment at the central office to disconnect prematurely. This test is also used to calculate the ringer equivalence number (REN) for the telephone equipment.The DC on hook resistance test requirement is designed to avoid interference with telephone companies maintenance procedures.
